WHAT IS CHIN AUGMENTATION SURGERY?
Dr. Slupchynskyj's Chin Augmentation Surgery uses synthetic implants, which feel like the natural tissue in your chin.  Dr. Slupchynskyj begins by making a small incision either in the natural crease line just under the chin or inside the mouth, where gum and lower lip meet.  A space where the implant can be inserted is then created.  After implantation, fine sutures are used to close the incision. There is no visible scarring when the incision is inside the mouth. If the incision is under the chin, the scar is virtually imperceptible.  Implants come in a variety of sizes and shapes, so your implant will be customized to suit your individual desired outcome.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING AND IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING MY CHIN AUGMENATION SURGERY?
Chin Augmentation Surgery is performed under local anesthesia and light sedation. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and lasts approximately one hour.  Your results are immediate and it is normal to experience slight bruising and some swelling.  Swelling will start to dissipate within five to seven days and resolve more so within a few weeks to one month with visible pleasing results.  The sutures, if any, will be removed between three to 10 days depending on your individual case. 

ARE THERE ANY RISKS TO CHIN AUGMENTATION SURGERY? WHAT IS MY RECOVERY TIME?
Dr. Slupchynskyj will advise you to avoid any strenuous activity until he is confident you are healed.  Dr. Slupchynskyj will also advise when you can return to normal activity, which for most patients, is within seven to 10 days post surgery. Many patients return to work within five to seven days.  If your incision was made orally, you will be advised to chew soft or liquid foods and maintain excellent oral hygiene during the healing process, as lack of oral hygiene increases risk of infection.
